3:30 AM, the alarm rings, Mathieu Astruc & Pierre-Sacha Baglione wake up,
the start of a long journey to Finland.
4:00 AM, Arrival at Terminal A of Marseille Provence Airport.
4:47 AM, We pass through customs.
This is the start of a 4-month Erasmus program.
5:57 AM, Boarding, we have been waiting for this moment since September 2023, now a dream becomes reality.
6:36 AM, Departure of KLM flight 1264 to Amsterdam Schiphol, from the terminal to the runway.
After arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol, we took another flight to Helsinki. Upon arrival at this airport, we unfortunately missed our pre-booked train.
As we descended further into the airport basement to reach the train station, the temperature kept dropping 0, -1, -5, -10, -20, -25.
It was our first thermal shock !
Upon arriving in Seinäjoki, we were struck by the freezing cold of -25°C. We walked in the cold for 1 km to our apartment, which was quite a health walk.
To our greatest surprise, the Finns we met on our way were warm and even offered to help us carry our luggage.
Upon arriving at the apartment, another detail needed attention: the heating! Because, alas, the Finnish VMC system is very direct: PVC pipes with a diameter of 10 cm are dug to directly connect the building with the outside.
So, we adjusted their manual shutter accordingly and it was done: we gained 7°C from 16 to 23°C!
Exhausted, we fell asleep with unprecedented speed.
